    We are seeking candidates who are excited about working as a Research Assistant in a small dynamic company on the cutting-edge drug discovery. Our unique antibody discovery technology means that you will have access to an early stage therapeutic pipeline that is inaccessible anywhere else. You will join a team that works together to discover, characterise and develop lead antibodies to scientifically, commercially and medically meaningful end points. In this position you will conduct laboratory work utilising molecular biology, and cell biology techniques to advance DJS Antibodies’ primary goals of antibody isolation and characterisation. In addition, you will take an active role in lab management and assisting with ongoing animal work. This position represents an excellent opportunity for a motivated person looking to work on key strategic projects within a small company.     Responsibilities

    • Contributing ideas and bringing energy to our team to maintain our positive company culture
    • Maintenance of cell cultures
    • Transient protein expression using mammalian cell lines
    • Performing laboratory experiments and analysing data
    • Cellular assays including immunofluorescent assays
    • Basic fluorescence microscopy
    • Molecular biology techniques including DNA production and purification, PCR and cloning
    • Conducting experiments with mice including administering treatments and taking samples
    • Day-to-day laboratory management e.g. setting-up and clearing away equipment, re-ordering lab supplies
    • Establishing and maintaining quality sample archiving systems
    • Gather, analyse, and present qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources

    You should have:

    • A BSc 2:1 or higher and/or MSc degree in a relevant discipline (such as Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology or Natural Sciences)
    • Enthusiasm for, and commitment to, research on disease biology and/or drug discovery
    • Proven recent experience in:
      • Cell culture
      • Molecular and Biochemical techniques i.e. bacterial cell culture, cloning, PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry
    • Evidence of excellent organisational and interpersonal skills including:
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      • Ability to work efficiently with a strong attention to detail
      • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends if required
      • Good problem-solving skills
      • Strong IT skills
